Whoa ! What a horse race. Big Brown starts from the outside position and wins the Kentucky Derby in impressive fashion. I’d say there’s a good possibility he could win the Triple Crown. That’s the good news. The bad news is the second place winner, Eight Belles, broke both her front ankles after crossing the finish line and had to be immediately euthanized. Awful!

OMG…I chose EightBells as my favorite and was amazed at the intensity of emotion as she moved her way to the front of the pack. OMG..Poor EightBells..Before the race I looked at my husband and said,”I don’t feel good about this”. A premonition?? Maybe. She would have been the first philly to win the Derby in 20 yrs.
It really is horrible. I feel really bad for the owners and trainers.
My money was on Big Brown with Eight Belles for a second place finish…id take it all back if she could still be with us; Barbaro was enough! RIP Eight Belles
Enough is Enough — horse racing has become a disgrace – saying so sad can not come close to the shame that should be carried for what we humans call a sport.
I think what you’re going to find is that Eight Belles’ injury had more to do with the anatomy of a horse than it did running in a race.
I was wanting either Big Brown otr Eight Bells to win and when he won and she got 2nd I was soooooooo happy, and then not even 5 minutes after the race she was gone. It totally devistated me. It seemed like a bad dream. Horse racing IS NOT a disgrace!!!!!!! It is a great sport of which I am proud of!!!! I am a dedicated horse lover and its in them to run. It makes me sick to hear people say its ‘animal abuse’.
i am very much passionate about horse racing. which makes me crazy everytime.horse racing is the best game ever.
