Audio Book

I’ve been toying around with the idea of doing an audio version of The Oz Chronicles.  This is a test run.  Let me know what you think.  It’s only a 1min 34sec.

  1. Loved it. Very well read. Want more!!

  2. Voice absolutely rips! Very, very well read, plus the creepy sound effects are well-mixed in that they’re not overbearing, but resonate as a cool touch. Keep going (and say Hi to Jackson).

  3. Odin, Thanks for stopping by. How goes the book sales?

  4. Well, slow but OK based on my little marketing scheme of publishing poems in journals and hoping people are interested enough to dig up my name on Amazon. So, I’m patiently submitting away (summer’s slow because a lot of journals are based out of colleges, so they don’t read in the summer). Ironically, a few people have read Distances – good reviews, too – and a few recently have actually brought up going back to it, which I thought was kind of cool. I’m plugging away, though, on new stuff. How about you? Any more bites on Oz? What’s with the short story? Was that random or are you writing more of those?

  5. I’ve been think about Distances a lot lately. Excellent book. I highly recommend it. The short story was done a few years ago. Almost got it in the Missouri Review. Got a nice hand written note from the editor telling me it was too long.

My agent has Oz out to about a half dozen publishers. My fingers are crossed.

  6. That’s really cool about the short story – sometimes a good rejection is just as encouraging as an acceptance. I’m glad you’re thinking about Distances – it seems like it’s been having that effect on people. I was playing some music with my brother in law and a former student and we recorded five songs. I really pushed to call us The Fun Dog Flying Circus, but they weren’t having it.

I really enjoy your blog…you really cover all bases. Keep it up, man!

Oh yeah, Joe, Jean and I are going to see Bruce on 8/16. Can’t wait.

  7. That is really, really, good. I’m impressed.

Good luck with it. Do it up. Sell it.

  8. Excellent trailer. Definitely makes me want to read this story. Superb voice-acting — I think you nailed the emotional tone you needed to hit in order to pique interest and intrigue.

  9. Richard – obviously you posted this months ago but I just ran across it. I love this audio clip. Fantastic job!
